GEORGE TOWN: Comments by Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew that Penang’s infrastructure is found wanting have led to the Chief Minister and his predecessor pointing fingers at each other.

“Lee mentioned that our infrastructure is inferior compared to Ipoh and Seremban.

“Perhaps this is a reflection of the ‘graceful decline’ that Penang has undergone over the last 18 years,” said Lim Guan Eng, who is also DAP secretary-general.

He said the state was willing to work with the federal government to carry out “necessary remedial measures” on Penang, especially in the areas of communications and transport.

Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, who is the former Chief Minister, hit back claiming that Lee had focused on the condition of the state’s roads in his statement about inadequate infrastructure.

“Most of the roads in Penang are under the state (government) or the municipal council. It has been more than a year that Pakatan Rakyat has been administering them,” said Dr Koh.

Lee, whose last official visit to Penang was in 1989, met both leaders privately yesterday – Lim at about 12.20pm at his office in Komtar and Dr Koh at about 3pm at the E&O hotel where the Singapore entourage was staying.

Lim and Dr Koh said that Lee had inquired about the political change and situation in Penang.

Lee, who will conclude his visit tomorrow, declined to talk to reporters.

I wonder if they have all been a vegetable (our federal and state government) all these while. Don’t they have eyes to see for themselves?? Or perhaps is this an indication that they have been too ignorant??

YOU DON’T NEED LEE KUAN YEW TO TELL YOU THAT!! WE’VE ALL BEEN TELLING YOU THE SAME FUCKING THING!

Wake the fuck up PKR Pakatan Rakyat!! What have you done in Penang other than to point fingers?? So we know those bunch of BN cro magnons are corrupted and immoral! No shit sherlock! We already knew that! Now what makes you so different from them? Or rather, what would you do to prove that you’re different from them?? I’d say, no less of an embarrassment from the BN retards to date.

Buckle up fuckers! You have only five years to do it, and your time is fast running out! It’s time to do something already! I don’t give a shit what the BN idiots did before you, I’m not interested! That’s the past. You can’t fix the past. You fix the future goddamn it! Now shut the fuck up and go the fuck back to work! And do it hard! (Yes people, Penang government sucks. The previous and the current.)

Lol. I afraid fixing the whole thingy is much tedious than you think. Bare in mind that Malaysia infrastructure are fairly “centralise” under federal government AKA Putrajaya, and I call the idea “Singaporisation”, except PutraJaya top it up with toppings like corruption, inefficiency. The federal level issue lead to bad infrastructure around the country. Down in Klang Valley, so called “better” infrastructure come with a price : TOLL, congestion, high level cost low living standard.

And this is all because Malaysian for the pass 50 years, surrender lots of State government and municipal councils rights to the federal government, by voting in lots shitloads of Yesman parliament member. The only choice we have now is kick out all drainage watching Parliament member and replace with ENOUGH representative to reverse the law.

  2. michaelooi says:

Errr, I disagree. That’s bad excuse. Simple things like fixing potholes, cleanliness of the city, tourism = Federal government? Hello? You’re cutting those people too much slack. If only my boss is like you… I’d be a very, very, lazy man.

  3. wils0n says:

No doubt the government has changed but MPPP/MPSP and its lazy maggots are still there. Their current mindset/attitude is a result of 50 years nurturing by BN. It’s not easy to change. We can’t just fire everyone of them and hire new guys to do the job. PKR needs time but I cannot deny that we’re getting annoyed of finger pointing.

  4. Bogan says:

Well said Mr. Ooi, there has been no change in Penang’s MPPP, PDC, etc. Let me quote a proverb, “same shit, different asshole”.

  5. bongkersz says:

Same shit, served on different days..

I agree with you man, especially the part ‘stating the obvious’. We don’t need them to keep repeating “BN is bad, BN sucks bla bla bla” because we FREAKING AWARE and KNOW about that, that’s why we voted them in. So, do the job, stop with the demonising talks. We are tired with all the repetitive rhetorics.

  6. ShaolinTiger says:

The people need to make the changes first and push for enforcement, stop taking bribes, stop throwing rubbish, stop smoking in non-smoking places, stop throwing litter out the windows etc.

  7. michaelooi says:

wils0n – They always say this can’t be changed, that can’t be changed. I wonder why do we need them then… The people are asking for improvement, not excuse.

Bogan – Hyeah man, different assholes running the same show.

bongkersz – My problem is – they spent too much time finding other people’s fault, instead of doing a better job…

ST – Unfortunately, from the way I look at it, it’s not going to change anytime soon… Long way to go dude… (hell, we can’t even make them taxi drivers to use a fucking meter).

  8. SPF88 says:

We need to work with them… not wait for them to give us what we expect. If we ourselves don’t even know what we want, how do we expect them to know? Fixing potholes is good. Then after that? I wouldn’t know what to do if I’m them.

Being in the government is just another job. We pay taxes. They get their pay. And the extra money goes into development… and charity?… and.. I dunno what else.

Maybe a pay raise for those who work under the government. Teachers etc.

Maybe they should start with the potholes first. Then the polluted rivers… then the crazy traffic lights… then… any ideas anyone?

Appears to me like they’re doing their job. Coz the crazy traffic light have been fixed. Just that the potholes are not filled NICELY. Makes the car go bump bump bump.

    SPF88 – That’s your opinion. I don’t have any problem with that.

  10. vincent says:

Hey, now that is so fucking true.

I have had friends complain like hell over the BN government, but are now making the same excuses for them.

Take for instance the corruption cases involving the PR politicians. People go, “Ah but BN much worse. This one only few thousand compared to PKFZ few billion”

    THAT’S NOT THE FUCKING POINT.

Corruption is corruption and we need to fry everybody involved regardless of whether it is a few billion or a few ringgit. I know BN sucks, which is why they are on the verve of being obliterated, but PR is no better as well.

And I like your point about Lim GE. Among the whole lot, I like him (and his father) the most because I know he isn’t a religious bigot or a two faced hypocrite, but he really has to stop giving stupid excuses.

  11. MorpheusX says:

I for one dont agree.. I work in the construction industry and i know that the council and land office has been dredged and cleaned. Last time the council was even more filthy than Sg Pinang. No doubt there is finger pointing but thats politics. At least something is being done.

  12. michaelooi says:

vincent – That’s the same thing when we said some BN worshippers are blind to their misdeeds… *shakes head

MorpheusX – Glad to hear that it is all good on your side. But the whole government’s not just about construction, you know what I mean? It’s ok.

  13. Arkane says:

Mike, Penang gomen is DAP not PKR. sudah senile ke ?

  14. michaelooi says:

Eh, I thought PKR = Pakatan Rakyat?

  15. zewt says:

they need funding to get things done… and i think they are not getting federal funding.

  16. wnlee says:

Yeah Mike. PR and PKR are different.

PR Pakatan Rakyat = PKR + DAP + PAS

I agree that there is no point blaming on the past. It is like blaming own parents for your own stupidity. Time to shut up and improve the future.

  17. kenwooi says:

    malaysia politics.. tsk tsk tsk..
    no comments.. lol =)

A few opposition politician still in the euphoric mode of 8 March. It’s been over a year now.

The funny part is, the council & politician seems to be disconnected completely (not surprise especially considering the chronic illness of tak-apa flu, I am looking forward to council election as promised by opposition but still no where to be seen, maybe shrouded by haze)

There was one interesting case nearby my house, the thrash collector comes around 1x /2 days, so for larger family, this is obviously not quite enough, for excess thrash they (those with larger family population) actually take a walk to one area (used to have a larger thrash container, and throw it there. But the trouble is , that large container also gets empty 1x/2days, sometime 1x/4 days (curi ular) so, it overflows too.

Anyway, recently , some bright idiot came around did something amazing. They took away the large thrash container and put a RM500-00 fine sign for littering !!!
Amazing ! Malaysia Boleh ! Penang Boleh !!!

LGE and company need to fire a few heads in council to show who is running the business . I also noticed most council workers are quite pro old regime and did not go down well when opposition win, not surprise they deliberately sabotage the situation to fan sentiments.
