airborne stunt gone wrong

One of the shocking headlines today [source]:

Rude shock for housewife
IPOH: Housewife Ng Lwe Mooi had a rude shock when a neighbour crashed her Proton Waja into her house in Taman Tasek Mewah here.

Ng, 59, said she was doing her household chores when she heard a loud bang at the front of her house at about 12.30pm.

“As I glanced out to check, I was shocked when I saw the car in my compound.

“From the sound of the crash, I thought a small plane had crash-landed outside my house,” she added.

The driver of the car was her neighbour who lives five doors away.

Moments after the accident, Ng said the driver was rushed to the hospital by her family members.

Another resident Nazri Japeranssah, 36, said the motorist was reversing from her house about 10m away.

“I was in the living room with my elder brother and I saw the car hitting my brother’s van and it continued moving towards Ng’s house about 20m away,” said Nazri.

“If it wasn’t for my brother’s van, the car could have crashed into my house,” he added.

Wow.

But I was confused about a couple of things.

1) It was mentioned that the driver was a neighbor who lives 5 doors or 10 meters away from this poor housewife’s house. Then towards the end of the article, it was mentioned that the car actually hit someone’s van first, then headed towards poor housewife’s compound, this time, 20 meters away. So, does that mean the car actually traveled to another direction to hit the van first (approx. 10 meters away?), then traveled all the way back to plow into poor housewife’s compound?

2) The driver was actually reversing out from her house. But by assessing the damage from the picture (refer source page), it looks more like the driver was actually performing some airborne stunts with her car… or something like that (note: the driver had to be sent to the hospital). And even that was after hitting a van, which could have mitigated the impact. How did this whole thing happen then? I mean, seriously, only by reversing out from her lot? Was she reversing at the speed of like, 90 – 100kph?

This seriously has to go into a book of record somewhere.

Whatever the truth is, one thing is for sure… when you see a female entity reversing her car, RUN!

I was as clueless as you when I read the news. What the hell are they reporting? Cannot imagine at all how the whole thing pulled off.

  2. LX says:

    Mike

I bet that fella must be trying to act like Jackie Chan in the 1995 Thunderbolt. Hahaha .. There is one scene towards the end where Jackie do a reverse and spin at the finishing line to win the race. hahahah .. I bet the driver fail and must be feeling damn embarassed now. gagagaga.

  3. Sue Ann says:

Hey… not all female entities can create such a stunt ok. Just that lady in the Ipoh neighbourhood. As for the rest of the female entities who knows how to steer the steering wheel, and floor the gas pedal to reach destination A to B safely, we are pretty good drivers. :)

  4. Patrick Tang says:

    Kindna proves couple of things:-

    1. our nation car do have ‘something’ over the others, a powerful reverse gear with airbourne capability!!
    2. never trust a lady driver (*however, do hope the driver is ok after the impact)
    3. who says airbag only needs be installed on the front?
    4. it is time to revise our national driving education system
    5. try avoid neighbours whose in stunt and action business

    * – Speedy recovery to the driver again!! – remember the middle paddle is the BREAK – step on it when your judgement is telling something is not right!

  5. michaelooi says:

wils0n – I can summarize the whole article in just 7 words – “Itu perempuan gostan sini-sana dan BANGG!”

LX – Jackie Chan’s stunts are choreographed. This is the real thing!

Sue Ann – Well, won’t it be safer to assume that all female entities are bad drivers, maybe except you… The risk factor is definitely lower that way…

Patrick – I have to correct you on one thing – BRAKES don’t work when your car is airborne! (drive slower might be a better advice)

  6. Patrick Tang says:

Michael – the definition “drive slower” varies on everyone’s book. Since BRAKES don’t work when the car is airborne.. perhaps all nation cars should have the reverse thrust system as an optional accessories. :P

  7. Jimmy Foo says:

Ahahahaha….that article made my day. A nice diversion from all the other crap going on in Malaysia.

  8. sweewon says:

Maybe our Proton Waja is designed to start lifting when you’re reversing up to a certain speed, y’know, same principle as airplanes, just in an opposite direction. *cannot tahan self*

So everybody, starts reversing already! Perhaps you’ll get airborne Protons all over.

  9. michaelooi says:

Patrick – Or a parachute brake. Or perhaps we need to invent somekind of gear lock for the ladies, you know, a lock that restricts the car to only the first or second gear. That will keep their speed in check. (this can be used on express bus or factory bus drivers too)

Jimmy – Yeah, it’s all about MCA, MIC and KEY on the paper… boring.

sweewon – You know, you could be right! So we should now avoid both female entities and WAJA!

  10. Pah says:

i think she damn panicked when she reversed out too fast and hit the van, instead of braking, she floored the accelerator… thus making some airborne stunt and landed in the poor lady’s house.. heheheh..

this is quite common.. it happened to my cousin… dangerous wei..

eh not all lady drivers are bad ok.. don’t la generalise us..

  11. anas says:

that is not a waja, but it’s a wajalution, complete with “evolution III” skirting. turbo maa, so fast, reverse also can fly. hahaha sorry couldn’t help but poke fun at ridiculous car mods.

jokes aside, i pray the driver is recovering.

  12. xTr3me says:

Weird accident indeed. Maybe her reverse gear has 5 speed instead of 1 speed. That way can produce enough speed for a super dramatic effect.

  13. Nicevil says:

    Hope she’s okay. :/

    Pretty nasty collision. > http://i34.tinypic.com/20b1dms.jpg

You should take a look at this article on TheStar: http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/10/21/nation/20081021194559&sec=nation …got it from a friend.

The most ridiculous piece of news I’ve ever read.
