what should we call them?
If we shouldn’t call them people from Indonesia as ‘Indons’, then what should we call them? Any idea, people?
How bout ‘chimneys’? Or ‘pollutants’? Or just ’shitbags’? ‘morons’?

I don’t see anything wrong with calling them Indon :S
I can’t think of a better word than Indons as a short form of Indonesians. But let’s not tie the word Indons to negativity, which i know is a common case and I don’t totally disagree but I try not to stereotype. Indons is simply short for Indonesians.

In my hometown in Tawau, there are lots of indonesians around. If u happen to visit here, u might think u have come to indonesia. So many legals n illegals around. Two significance in most of them. One, damn dirty - Throw rubbish everywhere, spit everywhere, urinate everywhere, and smell bad. We used to call them Robocop here. They think they r made of high strength steel. Cross road without even care if your car is approaching cos they expect u to brake your car to let them cross. I guess this is the way people cross road in Indonesia. Really piss me off….
Are yu referred youself as “Malays” since you are from Malaysia?

cheehan - They’re really made from steel. I had a chance to work with Indonesians before (at a construction site as a painter… during my school holidays many years ago)… You should see the way they work from morning till night man… rain or shine…
reader - I wud not referred meself as “Malays”. I would refer myself as a Chinese because I am not a native here (my forefathers came here to mine for Sn and make fuckloads of $$$ - we’re from China). But if I am an Orang Melayu, I’d be glad to allow myself to be called as a Malay…

Well, some of them are nice, but really, its a really small percentage. Most of them at uni are fucking noisy like a bunch of shit goats, laughing loudly in class.

anyway, my boss had an experience he will never forget. his first and last maid.. she was lazy, shows her mood and temper when reminded to do the cleaning, after a confrontation, she admitted she hated being a maid and it was her only chance to come here..actually, to find a “wealthy husband”
when they finally sent her back. according to my colleague of what she heard, the maid called back, my boss thinking it was sweet of her, and maybe she had missed the family, to their horror, she called to gave them a big fucking, saying to his wife that she yelled at her the most, and since then, whenever she was yelled at, the maid would feed her baby with shit while they are away working, and told them to check the “missing” milk bottle and pacifier, (cant remember where it was already) but it actually contained shit..

Makes me wonder what labels or ‘names’ other nations use to refer to us Malaysians?
junkgirl - I’d still guess ’shitbags’ or ‘morons’. We’re not much different from our Indonesian cousins, really. Except that we don’t live smack dab on top of tectonic plate fault line, and we don’t have that much trees to burn (and oh, we have leaky parliament roofs and also more potholes)

You’re so right there, Michael. I wonder when more Malaysians will learn that not all Caucasians are benevolent, generous tippers; Africans are not all gangsters; Bangladeshis are not all lowly-educated labourers etc etc???
