I was chatting with the guys in the cafeteria today when one of the hottest topic in town popped up. We’re basically discussing about how shemale-ism works… but fuck, none of us seems to have the slightest idea about the whole thing.

On the legalities, here are some points to note:
1) The gender stated on your National Registration Card cannot be altered unless the person concerned can prove that his/her gender was wrongly stated in his/her birth certificate. In this case, where a gender re-assignment surgery has taken place, it is not likely that there was a typographical error on the birth certificate. I believe Jessie has also stated in her previous press interviews that she needs to bring along a certificate from her doctor stating that she has undergone gender-reassignment surgery whenever she travels. All identity related docs, such as her IC, driver’s licence, passport etc still shows that she is a man.
2) Under Malaysian law, she cannot register her marriage because of para (1) above. Her identification documents still shows that she is a man, and the NRD will reject the registration papers should she decide to register her marriage. It appears she is fully aware of the current law (she stated in her press interview that it doesn’t matter even if the marriage is unregistrable, as long as they love each other). There is a catch though, should the groom decide to remarry, this current marriage is null and void in nature and Jessie will have no protection in law whatsoever. Given the extravagance of the wedding and the huge publicity involved, pre-nuptial agreements most probably have been signed between both parties to provide for the unexpected.

I remember reading the following information in the papers whereby two journalists did quite a bit of research on this issues.
1) Transvestite really is a guy made into a woman. A transexual is one who cross dresses and act like a woman. Apparently also, they disliked being branded wrongly.
2)Having a boob job without cutting off the penis, is considered a transexual. As long as the dick remains, he is not considered a woman/tranvestite.
3)In my country at least, it is actually possible for a guy who had went through a sex change to change his gender to a she, thereby legalising a marriage. Yes they get a marriage certificate here like everyone else.
4) I’m not so sure about Malaysia so I can’t help you on this one.
5)Well, as stated above in point 3, he should really be getting a new passport to go with the new ID card.
