proton savvy comments
I posted my view about Proton Savvy a while ago… and apparently, there were some hardcore Proton supporters getting flustered about my review and decided to uphold the justice by posting some comments on my blog. Here are what they wrote (and my reply along with it…):
~~~
Yao commented :
“if u guys r fucking rich, then go for better car but if u don’t…
not all malaysian r rich!!!
the price, i think suit with the quality and even cheap for a car with TUV approval..!!
myvi only approve by Peordua ma…
myvi just better designed than savvy but performance, quality and safety i dont think so…!!
their using that fucking old kelisa n kembara engine..!!
their using old tech and systems man..!!
THINK malaysian!!!”
My reply to him/her/whatever :
yao - What’s the difference with TUV or whatever fuck approval ? The car’s ugly & expensive. Period.
And in case you believed that retarded advertisement, well… don’t. That’s because you’re gonna fucking die anyway hitting a tree or a garbage truck. TUV or not.
~~~
Lion commented :
“savvy car is much beter and your rewieu is fucking bad”
My reply to him/her/whatever :
Hmmppfff… yeah. A “savvy car” is definitely much “beter” and my … excuse me… “rewieu” is fucking bad ? Get some education, moron.
~~~
shaiful abdullah commented :
“fuck u all…….bitchy bitch…..go fuck urself…fucking hell…u all just suck….go fuck ur motherfucker in law!”
My reply to him :
Awwwwww… how sad. You must have paid the deposit for a Proton Savvy. Why are you so fucking stupid ? Now you can choose to cancel your car, or live with that fucking piece of disaster for the rest of your miserable life.
~~~
king of the road commented :
“if any one have ever drive a savvy. whay are you so stupid. i have a savvy . the interior of car is very impresive. renault clio is the best selling model in evrope and sohc renault engine is beter than mvyi.
all in this forum are idiots”
My reply to him/her/whatever :
king of the road - let’s see who’s the idiot.
1) you have a savvy and we think savvy sucks. (idiot = you)
2) you think cheap plastics are good and you don’t even know how to spell impressive to describe your thrill… (idiot = you)
3) You think Savvy rawks because Renault Clio is the best seller in “evrope”. I think you’re an idiot … so … idiot = you.
4) This is not a forum. This is a motherfucking BLOG. Know what’s a blog dumbass ? (idiot = you)
No wonder you bought that garbage Savvy. It suits your character.
~~~
There you go. And there are a few gentlemen (one even claimed to be a Proton salesman !) that vented their disapproval about Proton Savvy … which I find to be quite interesting.
You can follow the comments here.
Dear people who live on the other side of the fucking planet:
WHAT THE FUCK IS A PROTON?
My USA SUV would eat it, crap it out, and still act like a pompous ass hole before I gave a fuck.
hahaha macek dude… agree.
My buddy there drives a V8 Excursion, not very badass but kinda close to what you described there. The boss drives a H2… and even the lab tech drives a Chevy Suburban.
Those machines mass manufacture corpses with that sheer size…
Hubby and I saw the Savvy upclose, sat inside, felt the interior… just didn’t hv a nice feeling about it. Plastic so fragile, weird sound when you close the doors (macam tak solid), and I hate the ad campaign (the agency shld be shot in the head).
I’ll go for the MyVi any day. If can afford, go for Toyota or Honda.
To YAO: True, not all Malaysians are rich. But that doesn’t mean car makers must compromise on quality & safety. If they make a compact car, it shld also hv the same quality & safety features expensive cars has.
Proton has failed on that very aspect several times. Just bcos they feel they’re offering cheap cars, they compromise on quality. The export quality proton cars hv way better standards than those made for local market. If you’re not aware of what you’re standing up for, shut up and go flush your head in the toilet.
fark all the proton supporters…. all the ads are shits….
lol~~TOTALLY AGREE with what u say…~!!!
Altenatively, they would have to wait for a year before Mi V or Savee (or whatever the crap called) problems start popping up. Just like our ‘HELL’ product. Just my 2 cent.
As suggest by Jase Lee, just wait for the problem pop-up. Then check your repair bills.
at least myvi’s engine is DOHC with DVVT
what does sawi’s engine has? 1.1litre? XD
Vehicle of that kind of standard ought to be sold at 20K range … as a challenger for Kancils and motorbikes.
WAHAHAHA!! Michael you r the best, never have I witness the art of insulting your opponents to such a funny level. Keep it up!
blah… just buy a bicycle!
stupid-vvy (as spoken in mandarin) looked like a toilet bowl cover at the front.
Looked like those super masked man or something like baja hitam or some freak with a cigar at the back.
Damn… and still got people protecting proton… … dont they have a brain ?
Go and buy today’s New Straits Time. The HUGE headline on the first page is “Proton’s Saga”. It’s about Dr.M out to defend Proton’s from critism. Read more here
mike,
It is true that TUV audited, not only the Savvy, but all of Proton’s suppliers as well. There is now a push within Proton to improve the quality of their products. Gen.2 was a failure in terms of quality, etc. But the Savvy is the correct step in the right direction. I am critical of Proton, (due to seeing their products) but without any doubt, the engineers that work there are very good and have a wealth of experience especially in vehicle development. That is why their exported cars are of better quality.
My question is what is stopping them using the same quality standards on the local products. They are already practicing it anyway.
But the evidence is in the product. You are an engineer, and you know that you can engineer something “keng chow” but it is management that prevents your “keng chow” engineering from seeing the light of day.
I blame the management of Proton. I blame the government for protecting Proton. I say, kick Tengku Mahaleel out and put someone better in his place (chinese or indian or some kwai low). Proton needs good management to carry it forward.
Im in the automotive industry myself, and looking at MG Rover’s collapse, if Proton do not “pull their finger out”, they would be heading in the same direction.
Savvy is their best stab at it, and from what I have seen and heard (from the engineers who have worked on it), it is definately an improvement. I only hope that they would continue to improve and not get swelled up and sit on their laurals, as they have been since 1985.
Monkeyboy
in all seriousness, let’s talk about this Proton a bit.
You said it’s the limitations from the management and they’re on their correct path towards better quality bla bla bla, right ?
Guess what dude ? That’s not my problem. I can be a fucking engineer, or a querulous fish monger - I don’t care. When I pay money, I set my level of expectation. When that expectation fails, I criticize. Criticism is the worst form of publicity.
The key idea is, when a part of an organization fails, they fail as a whole. In this case, it’s Proton. Not Proton’s management or that Indian guy who’s the procurement boss or anything …
Get it guys ?
I speak as an engineer that has been working in a Fortune 500 company with 7 years experience.
to killershik,
Your Proton Savvy comment has been expurgated.
reason : insensitive derogatory remarks on other readers.
pertaining your comment about my style of blogging … if only you would go through my 700 over posts archive - you’ll realize that it has always been ‘cruel’, as you have put it. It’s anything but passive.
And if you think that my style is not suitable for your reading, well then … sorry to disappoint you - by all means, please hop to another blog.
I blog for myself. Not for my readers.
I’ve said this before in my blog :
“the whole thing’s pretty much like a prison meal … you eat whatever’s served - you are however allowed to file a complaint to the warden if you find it shitty, but that’s just a psychological relieve to avoid prison riot … there’s actually nothing much you can do about it.”
This has always been a rule of thumb for bloggers.
And yeah, FUCK SAVVY.
King of the road, hmmm…nick gempak gila, only driving savvy ke…tragis…
i beleive what michaelooi saying is the exact fact. when a product fail, the whole entire company fail doesn’t matter if one big ass makes the biggest mistake in it.
anyhow savvy is a wrong product at the wrong time. if they launch before myvi they could at least grab some sales…but when the actual launch came out, myvi sales went up even higher. can u imagine it
Advertisement claims savvy has a top speed of “170kmh”…
hahah..balls!!
PR guys must have been dreamin’ bout their poor/slow sex lifes..and how “fast” they wish it was….when designin’ the add..
They suck with their greedy money making scheme to extract more $$$ from us lower/middle class consumer who already spent a great fortunes with their older suckier car model.
what….is tht too overwhelming for u to handle u cant post it? i understand. we all hv our soft spots. whts urs. ive figured tht one out already myself. lol
1. i love the savvy ad, it’s kinda impressively cool.
2. i think Myvi have better safety features than savvy. c’mon, savvy’s got no airbag. try and think of a europe car with no airbag, audi, renault, peugeot, bmw, mercedes, dawg, i can’t of any, isn’t that bloody suprising.
3. the thing about door sounding solid is just fucking funny. right, so you go test a jaguar, or a porsche, does how solid the door sounds makes any difference? you’re still gonna go *kepiaaaag* the door like your 20 year car anyway. performance and design matter, not how well the door sounds.
4. hiaks, SOHC engine. nice. booo to v12, vtec and etc. SOHC rocks more than my grandma’s chair. cheers to dumbass that loves old engine!!!
5. this feels like my own blog. i’m gonna stop. hi mike, good read here!
apomputeh - Tu ler yang menghairankan …
spoonkin - Well, like I said, if it’s targeted at a lower market, they might have a chance of snagging some profit. That’s the ingenuity of marketing.
paradoxx - A modified kancil can do 170kph too. But to drive at that speed with a car that size would be stupid. Same goes for Savvy.
jase - Hhhhyeah …
killershik - And you’ve slightly improved your cuneiform writing… how about that ? Anyway, if only you can READ (’baca’ in Malay), I expurgated your post due to your insensitive remarks about other readers.
liew - Hey, thanks for dropping by dude. You have a nice blog too.
ahah mike.. u see usee.. i recommend your site to LiEw niaaa.. hahaha and he loves it.. ahem… how bout you do a tittiesfansign for me.. flat aso okay wan.. ahahhaha
hahah… you want to see my tits ? Oh god… hailat ler …
why kenot.. faster
I expurgated your post due to your insensitive remarks about other readers
insensitive remark abt other readers? ROFLOL. wht a hypocrite. u pioneered tht one. how u ran down on others poor savvy supporters ring any bell? ur actions were like a divine for me to worship and subsequently imitate. ur a pussy
if its abt the reader, u clda js delete the first para and post the second tht i wrote wholly dedicated to u. but u chickened out.
ur an insecured coward irl. i can understand how u take refuge in tis so called blog of urs. but i do enjoy coming in here. bc u shit as much as i do
penny - no lar
killershik - I dissed those ‘poor’ savvy supporters because they posted their opinions in an inappropriate manner IN THE FIRST PLACE(read yourself).
My review of Savvy was completely targeted at the the product alone … and there wasn’t a single insult hurled at Savvy owners for being stupid.
I had just merely responded with the way they had commented in my blog - the hardcore way they preferred.
As for you, you called people names just because you think you’re smart. But you’re not. You’re fucked up. You insulted people unprovoked. That’s really low, and that’s why I expurgated your post.
If you don’t like it, well… suck your own dick. That helps.
As for you, you called people names just because you think you’re smart. But you’re not. You’re fucked up. You insulted people unprovoked.
damn. u got it hole right abt me. yeah i do feel so fucked up irl tht blasting other ppl make me more superior (always). and its a pathetic facade.
bravo for standing for urself.
i dono abt u but i really do not take this hole shit personally, michael. and honestly do enjoy exchging mockery wit ppl or putting up flames. i hope u2, not take to heart.
cheers
killershik - I never take anything in this blog personally. Well, unless you’re a hot girl and you’re asking for permission to flash your titties to me … I might give it a thought or something …
eh king of da road ar!…. king of ya own road i supposed!..U think all the ppl in this blog(ya so called forum that is)are idiots?.. do u think u can blog like mic does?… if no, u don even haf the right to be here, let alone call some1 else idiot…go look at da mirror dude!!…pei!!!
Now they cannot sell the stupid savvy. Now they blame the imported cars. Later, I am afraid, they will blame the Malaysians for not being patriotic.
For 20++ years they have been producing crap, now they say, within 24 hrs., quality is all ok.
Hello proton moron, if people don’t want you car, go & sell nasi lemak lah!!!
The sales figures speak for everything. Myvi & savvy, which one is higher. Only those who about to cry will say savvy.
This is from TUV (ID:0000100995)
CAN YOU SEE THE PROBLEM…(The certificate is currently under evaluation)
Check it out on http://www.tuv.com
You are right 50/50, the certificate is still under evaluation.
Wonder why the fucking proton claimed “Ápproved By TUV”. Now I know what they are good at. They are very good at lying, lying, & lying.
Malaysia will be a better world without the stupid protons.
What is TUV means?can any one tell me???I am an auto fan , i read all kind of car magazine but i never come across car manufacturer put a TUV in their cars’ qualities ……Nowaday we talk about safety features and fuel economy…. the types of material used qlready used in Corolla KE 70 so its not new anymore….
something similar…
tiara is known as splash in europe… very sellable also… but what’s happened in MY?
SO… something common and similar with savvy…
savvy… also is known as something good in europe… very SELLABLE also… so what will happen next? =D
kick mahaleel…put someone else
I think all Malaysians are stupid and proton thinks so too. Why is it that export market gets airbag 2x while Malaysian gets none? Are Malaysian live cheap? For all those who has supported Proton, I hope you never hit another car or a tree. Where as my car has 2 airbags to save me, yours proton probably has too, your head….filled with hot air. Haha!!
proton is doomed
for a proton salesman, your ceo has been sacked
l sense a great disturbance in the force.
the latest political trick in complaining the AP is not really for transparency,
come on since 1980 they suddenly want to announce AP holders?
it is just like the “sudden no diesel as some people are selling at low price” then remedy for all your people sake” increade the diesel price”
so same tactic by politicians
“AP AP and not fair” , “no use but we just announce it and show they are under declaring”, when you are all angry with ap holders and happy we are more transparent…
then s”uddenly all cars increase price by 30 %” to make up for the under declare and we lost out on revenue etc,,,
a kia cost the most 20000 if u increase by 300 % it is our current 80 000 to 100 K , what is all these underdeclare
well malaysians have u thought that are these people really underdeclaring
the end result of this “witch hunt” will be penalty and all foreign cars extra 30 % because alleged “underdeclared”
and guess what proton will say now u have no choice at all but to buy my car , we also increase by 20 % , still cheaper but you need to pay more
l think this policy will happen soon, very predictable
Elo all proton’s lover,
As long as we stand, sit, sleep, fuck, suck, being fuck, lick etc….
till the day you step into the grave
probably proton will still be your car to carry your coffin.
May be by that time it calls PROTONI.
Savvy Lover (My ass)
myvi sales > 40 000
savvy sales no buy
tuv, iso__> who cares a damn, never heard of it in my life, heard of bmw, mercedez, bentley,honda, toyota are they tuv?
350/month instalment__> no body buys
mahaleel gets sacked
then the old man comes, AP AP
2005 AP listed with a political show__> competitions kia, hyundai gets slam with 30 -40 % new tax
not enough
the old man wants the 2004 AP , l know he is going after the honda city, toyota avanza, innova, vios and nissan
so soon all these below 100 K will be slap with 40 % tax and become 140 K in the name of underdeclaration
of course, was there any evidence
dont worry, the old man can destroy all the AP AP
and increade the tax to 50000000000 %
we still have a saviour
THE MMMYYYYYIIIIIIIII
LOL u guys, i’ve just read the whole page all the way down and i’m laughing my nuts off man…proton has had so long to learn but they didnt learn jackshit….perodua came out with a mira copycat, but today they got myvi, that is what I call improvement. I dont see any of that at proton, they’re just short changing us. I’ll stand up and be proud and buy a perodua anytime rather than see the puke up interior of another shitty proton !
hey, they’re only 20 years and thank god they come out with acceptable cars. can we just supprt them with the ‘right’ way so that they can fulfill all ur hopes, not fuckin2 shit or watsoeva. other manfctrs started way back then when steam cars still hot, and msia doesn’t even exist. don’t anticipate too much out of it, better tell them wat u feel bout the cars weaknesses, not to compare the car after u drive that cheap golf just got for ur b’day. all i wanto say is givin them chances after chances to improve, not to expect marvel supercar for 40K. i’m not into proton but hey, look back, they’re improvin!
aleast just hope not to see a more repulsive cars coming out from the vault of proton, now that’s damn sucks.
Mahathir is long gone. Now only he is barking like a mad dog - Shouting AP, AP, …
Mahaleel the bastard is now sacked - Crying for his RM 1m from proton. What a fuck!!!
The launched the savvy & my immediate reaction after looking at it ….. What a god damn car fucking approved fucking by fucking TUV. Fucking what fucking is fucking TUV???
All Malaysians (Except for proton morons) are sick & tired of the stupid proton. Why? Is it because we are not patriotic??? The tru answer is they cannot deliver a reliable car!!!
For 20+++ years they have been producing nothing but crap, and now, due to TUV, they claim they produce a golden car!!! Fuck the 2′M.
We must say ‘SAY NO TO PROTON’ OR ‘STOP PROTON’
Siteowner’s note : This guy’s IP address is 12.162.120.131.
Well,
For all said and done about Proton, we have to remember that we are one of the few countries in the world that can design a car from scratch because of it.
Let’s give 2 thumbs up for that shall we
p.s. Remember all the jokes about Skoda?
Proton would be a O.K choice if the price do go down by RM15K for each model…….
Below is the link to sorry Savvy photo…. enjoy
http://paultan.org/archives/2005/08/12/proton-savvy-accident/
Just to ask something..
1. Why the personal attack on Tengku Mahaleel? Has he attacked anyone of you personally? Everyone points out here that he’s an idiot, a total nincompoop who knows nothing of what he’s doing, yet has anyone seen him in action? I don’t think so. Here’s a fun fact, he was VP of Shell Malaysia sometime before, do you really think Shell is going to hire a nincompoop to run their company?
2. Why should a Chinese or Indian perform better as a CEO? Someone here made that comment and I really can’t fathom why that is the case. Are we talking about finding an individual to run a company, or are we talking about trying to run some religious/traditional festival here?
3. Micheal, I don’t think anyone here really cares whether you’re working for a Fortune 500 company or not. I too work for a Fortune 500 company, with lots of experience, and even a short 2 year stint with one of the big 3 carmakers as well, BUT, and this is a big BUT, you’re in whatever industry you are in, I am in mine, and Proton is in theirs. Sure, the same engineering principals can be applied across the board, like your comment about how the whole organisation failed, and not just the management, but the specifics of each industry are vastly different from one industry to another.
My wife works in your neck of the woods as well, microprocessors and such, and she also works for a Fortune 500 company, but the organisation and style of work that they have at here org, would not last one day if it was involved in what I do, which is energy. My point? Simple, your 7 years of experience don’t really count here, just like they won’t count if you were interviewing for a position in my field, or vice versa.
Lastly, about those photos. If you observe, the car has damage on all sides, front,rear, sides, which suggest a pretty bad accident. Yes, she looks a sorry sight, but before jumping the gun and saying how crappy the Savvy is, take a look at the passenger compartment. You will see that the passenger comparment is still intact, even the A pillars appear to not be badly damaged. Never mind the engine compartment, that is the crumple zone after all, and is designed to crumple under impact, but the passenger compartment is not. The strength of the passenger compartment comes from the strength of the chasis. 3 times stronger than the Wira is not BS to whoever think it is, it is 3 times stronger, and is scientificaly proven. Now, not to say that the Savvy won’t break apart if you hit it hard enough, but hey, we’ve seen Mercs and Hondas break apart too.
bob, we’re not counting the experiences referred in interviews. We’re talking about experiences about quality control. Dedication to meet your customer’s need. The passion to your job. The profession that you’re proud of.
I’d be laughing at you for making that statement… that’s because you REALLY DO NOT KNOW which company I work at, what I do, and what we’ve done.
Not that it matters. You’re defending for a really screwed up corporation. How low can that be ? You’re not even debating with facts. I can get those craps from newspapers…
Hi Mike,
Point taken, I don’t know what you do and what you have done. But you’re missing the point, my point was that different industries have different engineering challenges that have specific problems to their industry, and that unless you’re in the automotive industry, you really don’t know whats going on within Proton. And thats the biggest problem isn’t it, everyone who bashes Proton gets the news from a friend of a friend and there we go.
While you’re entitle to your opinion that Proton is a crap company, the other Asian automakers had the same reputation not too long ago. Of course Proton has made some hiccups, some of their own making, others forced onto them (the much maligned Juara is an exampled) yet while I acknowledge that they have had problems, I also believe in their potential. They have the potential to go far, if given the chance and given the room to expand, yet everyone believes that Proton, just because its now 20, is meant to compete toe to toe with the big 3.
Some facts that should be considered, Proton is a GLC just like TNB, Telekom and MAS. It is the only GLC to have yet to produce a loss, it is the only GLC where the government need not put in money to keep afloat. Sure, its inefficient compared to a Fortune 500 company, but the fact that it has had over a dozen suitors locally and foreign shows that it has not done too badly in the past.
You know, in the 50s, the American space program was lagging the Soviets in many many ways, particularly rocket design. It took them a good 15 years to catch up and another 4 before they were acknowledge to have superceeded the Soviets. It took massive resources, and probably would never be attempted again, but it goes to show that with time, a continuous desire to learn and political support, you can achieve technical competence. It is not just about the bottom line, like you and I have always got to watch out for, it is also about capacity building.
I say all of this because I have seen Proton developing itself, and if you study history carefully, the path it takes is no different than that what the other asian car makers had to go through before.
bob, I know proton’s improving itself. I know it’s making progress. I know it’s different from what it was 20 years ago.
You know what bob ? I don’t really care and it doesn’t matter.
That’s because experiences speak. I’ve had bad experiences, and I feel bad about this company. Their workers are delinquent, they’re not dedicated to even look into my problems…
It’s just as bad as that. That’s how I lost my faith and confidence.
I certainly do hope that they improve to fix all that. But that’s something for them to worry about, not for me. Cheers
Myvi & Savvy has their own concept of design. but for savvy, it is much born in malaysia, unlike myvi, redesign for malaysia. Perodua is taking easy step in just assembling the car beside building it from scratch.. Proton effort should be supported and if not, should be commented profesionally, not an emotional one, because they were buying other car beside proton. If you are not a proton fan, just don’t make a hasty comment, or just forget about it. when comenting about myvi. is has no use- since the car is not malaysian design, and it has no originality as savvy does.. This is all just a matter of individual taste. about pricing, myvi just seem to be in medium- high range car, price is quite right for the size , not the performance,. and these goes up side dowm for proton car. For savvy, the quality should be improved, even plastic in myvi interior is just equivalent. for proton, they should re- think about the price savvy & market target so that- savvy can go on sale- really well..
“This is all just a matter of individual taste.”
“If you are not a proton fan, just don’t make a hasty comment, or just forget about it”
*****
j6eo - Seems like you’ve just contradicted yourself. If this is all about individual ‘taste’, then why bother typing a comment so long to ‘correct’ me?
And why do I have to be a ‘Proton fan’ to make a ‘hasty comment’? What hasty comment? Again, back to your first quote - it’s all about INDIVIDUAL TASTE. I don’t see why it is so wrong for a person to reserve his own opinions about something in his own blog…
Here, I tell you people again - I still think Savvy sux. Big time. Doesn’t matter if it’s made in a pile of mud pit in Malaysia or a famed designer plant in Germany. It doesn’t cut my cake and that’s period.
