During the previous session of my mandarin class, I sort of revealed my ill sentiments towards those China counterparts to the Mandarin lecturer. It was unintentional. I was overwrought with emotions that took over my speaking … and ejaculated everything out.
“I want to learn Mandarin because my counterparts from China are too stupid to learn English.” [smacks fist onto palm]
Something like that.
I sort of have this pang of remorse after expressing the unethical remarks and would think over and over - what the hell is wrong with me ? What’s fueling my hatred towards those people from China ?
Could it be the bad experiences .. :
I had on the plane ? I was on the flight towards Beijing and saw this middle aged lady went around the cabin to collect those airline utensils, cups and plates … all to be stuffed into her travelling bag on the overhead compartment.
I had on the plane #2 ? Was on the same flight towards Beijing. Those people from China, are screaming at each other from the opposite side of the window-seat. Apparently, they were supposed to be chatting.
I had with the tourguide from China ? When she refuses to carry on our tour itinerary because she needed some ‘extra money’ to live her life. She actually demanded that each tourist to donate some tips for her and her driver … and they’ll be happy to resume their duty.
I had at an aquarium resort in Beijing ? Where I saw an old couple swearing and harassing a security guard through the back entrance, because they refused to pay to enter the aquarium from the front entrance.
I had in Forbidden City ? I was trying to snap a picture of the emperor throne through a doorway when I was being elbowed by an old lady. I glowered at her but instead of feeling sorry, she pushes me aside and flocked to my spot … just to get a view.
I had in Forbidden City #2 ? Saw a lady squatting down on the edge of a walkway wearing a miniskirt. Her underwear was clearly visible and she was chatting enthusiastically with her relatives/friends.
I had at the night market in Tianjin ? I was strolling at the night market when I saw an old lady whips out her wrinkled tits and scratch it like an ape suffering some skin disease … all the while talking to her friends.
Emily had in Guangzhou ? Where she was being madly screamed at by an old lady at a hotel restroom queue… when Emily refuses to let her jump the queue.

Maybe. But still, I shouldn’t have said those mean things out of my fit of anger. It’s not professional. I should be ashamed of myself.

people from china shit with the door wide open. after wiping their ass, they throw the used toilet paper into a waste paper basket full of other ppl’s shit instead of flushing them down like we do.
china sucks.
my friend who went to Mexico said ppl there also throw t.p. in wastebaskets, but there’s an actual reason: the toilets there are too small to handle t.p., they’ll jam if you flush a big wad of t.p.
and just cos some people in China lack manners…doesn’t mean Malaysians should balas dendam, then they’ll go home saying, “Malaysians are a bunch of total morons/jerks/whatever.”
i lived with some ppl frm PRC b4,and so far the impression of them is not too glowing.the girls are so dirty that i am beginning to think malaysian guys are sthg to be proud of in terms of cleaniness. they throw their used pads into the dustbins when the sanitary disposal unit is provided in the apt.
that’s totally disgusting!!
but, sure, mikey, u shld be ashamed of urself in the way u voiced ur sentiments. it’s better to be diplomatic abt it. ppl tend to get defensive when criticised. if u do it in the right way, they wld be ashamed of themselves instead of defending their *wrongdoings*
cheerios!
patricia - I didn’t actually saw that. But what I’ve noticed was, their booth have a relatively small partition, so basically the public still has a full view of them loosing their bowels…
paul - The country rocks, especially from photography point of view. It’s just… the people. Communism corrupted their soul…
megabigblur - Well, kinda agree with you but, when you’ve encountered those neanderthals yourselves, you’ll be a jerk like me.
naeboo~ - be diplomatic about it eh ? That’s why I took the Mandarin class. 1) to be able to converse with them properly (coz they can’t understand no shit in English… 2) to be able to excel in karaoke …
The Ugly Chinaman!!
I saw this China guy spit LOUDLY while I was at Chicago O’Hare airport last week. Well, at least he spitted into a trash bin, but the ang moh lady in front of me was like “OH MY GOD did u SEE that?” and several others had looks of utter disgust on their faces.
I felt compelled to point out that although I am chinese, I’m not from china and am no way like them. It’s just so embarassing. urgh. These people give Chinese a bad name.
the country is just a huge piece of land. when i refer to china i always mean the idiot people who live there.
Rude people I encountered in Guangzhou as well but *shrug* oh well, I’ll go back for their shoooooes!
Pretty, cheap and most importantly, it fits! Err, small feet, see?
I suggest you view China people openly, afterall, all the place you visits DOES not represent the whole China. It take time, not many country going through a destructive force as the literacture revolution. You will see more “cultural” Chinese people in least resources stress city/town, e.g. Dalian.
About the arrogance part, don’t forget we have some world class road bully at home.
ken - There are a lot of them that might be better looking than you … it’s not about the looks…
tsewei - O’Hare airport ! How can I not remember that place ? A maze of fuck up building structure…
paul - I know dude. Just pulling your leg. tiuuuu
primrose - Not much fond memories of Guangzhou … except that the dimsum there are pretty awesome.
moo_t - Ooh… an advice. I could use that… *viewing them differently now*
Although China is a strongly-growing country, but Chinamen’s attitude and ethique SUX big time!!
They’ll spat anywhere they want, and be warn for their early sign of spatting by the “throat-clearing” noise……. and then spat it on the floor. That explains why there’re many “white bubbles” on the floor in many parts of the cities in China.
I also hate PRCs, especially PRC gals. They always think they r very “smart” and “pretty”.Extremely proud & always look down on Malaysians.Their english sucks. There r many more other reasons y i hate them.
moo_t: i believe in statistics and 100% of all china people i know are complete sohais. i’m not talking about 3-4 ppl like that but i’ve met alot.
PRC girls are just sluts. they have no transport in malaysia and they sleep around with malaysian guys with cars just so they dont need to spend on taxi rides.
CLF - That’s why SARS was rampant there … they have hygiene problems…
Paul - No shit, sleeping with everyone just to get a ride ? Man, what if they need to dump some garbage ? Are they gonna sleep with the garbage collector too ?
Umm “The Ugly Chinaman” is a title of a book.
Please guys, I’ve my fair share of encounters with the ugly attitudes of mainlanders. And that was on a flight only transitting from HK to Malaysia in a China Airlines(Taiwanese airline). I guess they are just one big country with no civic education yet. Look at malaysia, do we have a proper civic guideline? Our drivers and let’s not include the ‘friendly’ population that discriminates against mainlanders and giving them some hard time. I just wanna say let’s all be open minded and since we are the more educated ones and aware try to teach or guide them some civic consciousness. Do it all to anybody and you’ll see a better world. Look, their economy just transformed and I really mean transformed in just a decade. They opened their market barely two decades. Remember, we are the educated ones and let’s act like one.
hi alex
i respect the way you mentioned about being courteous and ‘open mindedness’.
But please lah… do not make it sound as if I’m REALLY discriminating against them… and to associate my entry here to those screw up ah beng drivers, alright ?
Talking about fair share of mainlanders… let’s just say, I have to liase with the professional version of themselves for like … 9 hours a day ? And I think I’ve seen enough.
Generally, most people are biased towards China. Yes, they may have open concept toilets and the people spit on the roads, but do bear in mind that it is a minority. Sort of like a “half cup empty” and half cup full” concept. Depends on how you look at it. I ‘ve stayed with students from PRC before and I did not have much of a problem. In your case, its more of a journey to retrace your roots rather than learning another foreign language, so I do think you were very harsh in making that comment, although you were quick to feel remorseful about it, which is good.
You would not say the same thing if you were required to study Japanese, right? Or French for that matter. Both the French and the Japanese are very proud of their language and one would be completely lost in both countries if one does not speak the basics of their languages.
Try to see the bright side of things and appreciate the opportunity of working with your Chinese counterparts. There must be something that we can learn from them. You already have an advantage which others can only dream of. If you master Mandarin further– then the world is your oyster.
Good luck.
