saving a day

*I’m blogging this in a groggy state. Let me know if something doesn’t make sense.

I was still sleeping when Emily suddenly woke me up. It was almost 8pm. I still felt exhausted from the gathering yesterday .. apparently deprived of sleep.

Emily told me that my aunt’s house next door suddenly went blackout and wanted me to help check what went wrong. Immediately, something rang in my mind. Mom had just told me this afternoon that my aunt’s house has been problematic lately — believe it or not, her place’s has just recently been discovered to be invaded by a female GHOST !

Alright, that’s a neat idea - I thought. Her haunted place suddenly went blackout … and they want me to go and have a look. Who do they think I am … a priest or something ?? FUCK. I initially digressed on the idea of checking her place out. The last thing I want is to see some non-human female with long flowy hair sneaking up to me and act spooky. (i thought all females are like this ?)

Then after a few persuasion from Emily, I told her ok - I’m going over .. but not before I comb my hair first (I’m still in bed, remember ?). I then went to splash my hair wet with water and started combing. To my horror, my hair doesn’t submit to my combing course — it just won’t stay in the shape I wanted it to be ! Things doesn’t seem to look right here… it’s getting spookier even before I went over. Uh-oh.

I was done after a few rounds of combing. My hair definitely was very out of style and I can’t do anything about it. Her house was pitch dark when I was there. I then immediately took charge and ordered everyone (my mom, emily, aunty and a neighbour) to help switching off appliances — and myself repeatedly yanking the tripped circuit breaker switch. A born leader I am … everything seems to be leading to the right direction with my presence.

Anyway, the switch kept tripping for no apparent reason. Don’t understand why. Very spooky. Was it somekind of evil spirits that were behind all these ? I don’t fucking know. Might be a kind of poltergeist in action - i thought. I haven’t got a chance to feel afraid .. as I’ve got lives to save. Nevertheless, the evil and spooky circuit breaker switch seemed to be remained tripped and won’t turn on. It was then, I decided to take things into my own hands. Maybe those housewives weren’t really doing their job well.

I went scouring around her dark house, armed with only a small torchlight. It was a handy weapon i suppose … in case any vampires or any ghost trying to act spooky… I can whack the daylights out of it with that torchlight. Everything seemed to look ok.

Then, I headed towards the master bedroom (my girl-cousin’s room). Her room was the center of the evil influence inside the house (that’s what my aunty said). The heart of the spook. The gate where the reputed female ghost entered from another realm. Goosebumps started to pop up when I took the last few steps before entering the room — Emily and my aunt followed from behind. My mom was too freaked to even enter the house.

THe moment I entered the evil place, I almost got repelled out from the room from a very bad malodor attack. Stench of death. Ughh… but I managed to hold strong .. and entered the room after several attempt. It was a horrific sight. The place was thick with the traces of demonic influence. I was thinking of burning the place down .. but I don’t have a lighter at that moment.

Anyway, with my keen and sharp observation, I managed to notice that there were still 2 switches left in the “on” position. That must be it - I thought. I switched off the first one .. which was suppose to be the toilet’s light. The second one was unreachable — it was an aircon power point located almost near to the ceiling. So, I asked my aunt to bring me a chair, stool or anything… so that I can climb up on it to turn the damn thing off.

She then went out from the room (supposedly to get a chair), but ended up chatting with my mom at the corridor. Housewives really cannot be depended on.*shakes head in disappointment*. I then asked Emily to look for a chair instead, and off she go. It didn’t take long for me to realize that, I was the only one left in the room at that moment ! This is bad - I thought. The weakest and most vulnerable moment for a person .. is when he’s alone without help. I was in serious dilemma — I thought of bailing out the place without looking back but, I’ve got a reputation to maintain here. I must save my aunty’s life .. I shouldn’t act like a selfish dude. I decided to stay.

When Emily was out to look for chair for approximately 10 seconds (which felt like forever), I quickly ran out into the living room to look for Emily. She’s looking for a ladder, that’s what took her so long. I told her ladder’s for short dude like Joe Pesci and I grabbed a nearby Ikea chair. I quickly settled the whole thing and scurried to the main switch. *SNAP* The lights power’s restored. A simple flick of a switch .. and I managed to banish all dark forces back to whence it came from.

Aunty asked me what happened. I told her that the ghost had just shorted the switch … and she should get a very brave electrician to fix it. I took my leave after that, with my aunt feeling proud to have such a heroic nephew living next door.

Lesson learnt : Evil ghosts nowadays knew how to perform professional sabotage like shorting a switch, crashing a puter.
