Hong Kong vacation – summarized

Back from Hong Kong on 24th.

The trip was awesome, despite the fact that some part of the trip weren’t really that enjoyable. The part I was talking about was the China tour on the 2nd day till 4th day.

1) Emily & I was the only young couple there – the rest of the 2 couples were old beings. Hell they were so irritating. One was a prick & the other a nagger – who talks really fast. I had to wolf down plenty of paracetamol tablets in order to withstand their screwed up attitude. Goddamn.

2) The people from China are rude. They have hygiene problems – couldn’t build a proper toilet. And their food sucks + dirty. Out of the 6 pax from our group, 5 got serious purging after consuming the food there. I’m the only one who didn’t get the poisoning. I think I’m tough. :PbPb

3) The road works in China are a turn off. Although I can say I’m seriously concerned about the number of potholes on our Malaysian roads but, it was not really that when compared to those I encountered at Shenzen & Guangzhou. Taking a car or any road vehicle there is like riding a horse with parkinson’s disease. Car sick is the national past time on the road there.

4) Stuck at immigration for 1.5 hours at China-Macau border just because the immigration computers didn’t sync properly – our visa info was ok when we entered China but the information was not found when we’re leaving from the other side of the country. It was like scanning your Touch n Go from the northern highway and when you reach Jelapang, the fucking system beeps an error telling you that no info was found on your card. China was such a screw up country – on that day.

Coupled with all these cons and hot weather, it made our China trip really dull & boring. Macau was ok – not much place to go except the casino.

The free & easy trip at Hong Kong was totally different. The city is scintillating with life and vibrant. The night scene from Victoria Peak was amazing. Skyscrapers so close together and there were lights everywhere. Our Petronas towers are like 2 chopsticks sticking out from a bowl of rice, and Hong Kong is like having 365 arrows sticking out from Milla Jovovich’s flat chest – big difference. Favorite past time there would be shopping. We shopped from Mongkok to Causeway Bay and Emily was out of control when she saw so many SALE signs all over the place. I had serious aching on my legs from these concrete jungle trekking. Bought lots of stuffs. Emily bought a few handbags for her sisters, and some designer clothes for herself. I got myself a pair of my dream Timberland shoes (the model which I’ve been droolling for so long in Penang).

Images taken with Nikon SQ.

And yeah, we also visited Ocean Park. It was a fun place to be – for kids. The roller coaster got my brain tangled with some part of my colon – felt so fucking sick after the ride. The only thing I enjoyed there was the cable car ride & the dolphin show. The place was simply too full of China tourists and trust me, nobody wants to get near those bunch of wild people.

There were so many wonderful experiences & places I had visited which I’m not able to cover in this entry. It was beyond what I can describe. (ok… maybe it’s because I’m freakin’ lazy)

But there are some downside about Hong Kong – food there was not that good compared to Malaysia. They are very expensive and not appetizing at all. The best thing I ever had at Hong Kong was the RM90 Thai food buffet at Causeway Bay – which didn’t even taste like Thai food. Not spicy enough.

Overall, I can say that I enjoyed my vacation to the fullest this time. China trip was boring yes, but still, it wasn’t really that bad as I didn’t have to see Rob’s face for the whole week. I believe if it weren’t for the screwed up China trip, I wouldn’t have enjoyed myself so much in Hong Kong. Sort of accentuated Hong Kong as the better half of the trip.

a fine day

Sat morning went for breakfast at Rifle Range. It was like walking back into my past. So much have changed, and yet, so much haven’t. It was like visiting a place you have not visited for 2 weeks and when you return, everyone suddenly became so old.

As I walked pass every inch of the place, it reminisced me of the old days when I was a kid. Used to play around there a lot. Recalled of the fun times I had, like climbing onto the market roof and all the fun playing hide & seek with the samseng boys. The place never looked so dirty back then. Probably I did not give a lot of attention to hygiene back then.

But I can’t deny that the place has always been a dangerous place to grow up. It’s a slum and it is very ghetto. I was one of the lucky ones to be able to leave that place for good – else I would have become another gangster there. Today, I was just there for my breakfast and left the place telling Emily heaps of stories about my childhood. And although I had the fun telling her… I can tell that she wasn’t really enjoying even a bit of it. (probably boring)

Then, we proceeded to shop around for the HK vacation. Last minute preparation kinda thing. Afternoon – visited my dad. Hung out with him for some time, until some of his really old friends visited. Some whom he haven’t met for nearly 30 years – and the first thing they said to each other was “Hey… what’s up?”. Funny isn’t it? 30 years and that was the first thing they said. His friend replied “Wow, you weren’t that skinny back then. I recognized you when I saw your tattoo!” And they continued to chat. It felt so warm seeing them reunited.

going off

I have been struggling today – struggling to get all my work done as much as possible before I head for my holidays. That’s right. I won’t be coming to work for the entire next week. Been waiting for this time of the year – vacation !

My struggle was made worst when Dickhead (one of our managers) organized a lunch meeting to talk about our past quarter’s achievements. I could have used the meeting time to clear off my workload and make use of my extra time to blog or something.

The meeting was boring and the lunch was awful. I was expecting a pizza or something like that. But this guy actually ordered white rice with prawns! I mean … we’re attending a meeting here without proper a table, how the fuck in the world are we going to eat those prawns? Imagine, one hand holding the ceramic plate of rice and another holding a spoon. I usually eat prawns with my bare hands and due to his fucking brilliant plan, I had to swallow the whole prawn with its shells. I swear… this would be the final time I’m attending a meeting by Dickhead. At least I know that he has a bad taste for food.

I finished all my stuffs approximately 3.30 pm and managed to reserve enough time for me to clean up my table, prepare my out-of-office reply notes, and call up my colleagues to follow up my stuffs. I’m feeling real good today working my ass off, knowing that I won’t have to see Rob’s fucking face for the next 10 days or so.

I hope he gets into a lot of trouble during my absence. Like screwing up big time and got his ass fired or something. Oh, or maybe got himself in jail – that’ll be cool. When I return, I would be so happy to learn about his departure to hell. And probably get myself a new sexy female boss, I’ll be so goddamn motivated to work!
*cackles like a hyena

I’m leaving earlier today – got a few appointments tonight.

evidence from the past

I’m starting to receive the parts I have been waiting for. Defective computer parts returned from customers.

And I found something very wrong about today’s batch. Most of the parts, were badly damaged, mind me… not defective, but badly damaged. Pry marks, cracked surface, food residue, etc etc. I wonder what actually fueled their angst to abuse their own computers like that. If I’m not mistaken, we ship most of our computers to office users… or at least some literate human beings. But by looking at the parts, it seems more like we’re selling our products to some cro-magnons.

I mean, we humans had spent so much money digging up our wild ancestors just to study how they behave in the past & how they looked like. Well, I think that’s a sheer waste of time. We already have all the pointers around us. If they wanted to know how a cro-magnon behaves, just take a look at our abusive customers here. Do some simple investigations, why are they abusing our computers?
Or they could have studied those cases of domestic violence against housewives by alcoholic husbands. Or the way our local rambos debating who to blame in an automobile accident. You’re seeing a modern version of our caveman instincts here.

Want to know how a cro-magnon looked like? Look at my friend Doug. He had the same protruding eye socket and flat forehead. Sometimes, when he cusses at his boss 3K, you can see the beast behind that pair of vengeful eyes. Take out his clothes & replace them with animal hides, and I bet the scientists would be awe-struck to see an uncanny resemblance. They would save millions, and pay Doug a fortune to have him scanned, studied, probed. Or cheaper still, they could have given him free cendols for a lifetime – he would have consented without much persuasion. Friends included. We can have free cendols when hang out with him. Cool heheh.

I have to analyze these caveman leftovers and complete them before the weekend – as I will be vacationing at Hong Kong.

boss rage

I’m still very free today. Got nothing to do. Spent most of my time surfing and answering phone calls. One of them was made by BigSnake, asking me what the hell is Centrino. I told him it’s a brand of vacuum cleaner. Things like that.

Lunch with the usual bunch. Went to “the place under the bridge” to eat. The 3 old guys (Doug, LeRoy & Eric) were talking about their boss today. Apparently, their boss 3K (short for kiasu, kiasi & kiabo), is also a jerk. Rumored to be worse than Rob, 3K is the kind who would put his nose in anything you do. Micromanage – as they call it in our corporate world. And he’s a an asshole too. Anything bad you can imagine. He is the typical evil boss that all assholes in my company would worship like their religion.

Usually, the 3 old guys would just curse him around during lunch and I was already used to that. Heck, they even named my soft-toy dog (it’s a grimm) in my car as 3K… and occasionally, Eric would grab my dog and punch him in the face and yell – “motherfucker!”. My dog is like a physical dummy for him to vent out his frustrations …*I usually call my dog ‘crazyguy’ *

But today was different. Their rantings has advanced to a whole new level. Today, they talked about torture & some twisted plots to murder him. Doug started with something like cutting off his dick, sealing his sex life shut forever. And Eric continued, to peel his skins and rub plenty of salt on him… then coat him up in honey and let the ants devour him.

And they continued to add more ideas, each time with more grotesque imagination. I thought I was bad. But I felt really thankful today, for I wasn’t the one driving. Else, I couldn’t imagine what would happen to Crazyguy when their imaginations turn into action.

I think I’m gonna hide my dog up the next time I drive these 3 old guys out for lunch.
